Check out our interview with Annabelle, the creative influencer, behind Mixed Hues:
Sidebuy: Please share a bit about yourself and your blog:
Annabelle: “My blog lies at the intersection of fashion and feminism, two very large parts of my identity. I launched it on January 1st of this year as my New Year’s resolution and I’m so glad I did! It’s been an incredible experience involving a lot of learning and a lot of new amazing friends. I love being able to write about things that I’m passionate about and sharing those thoughts with others.”
Sidebuy: What prompted you to become an influencer?
Annabelle: “Two summers ago, I started writing for CollegeFashionista. Inspired by the community of Style Gurus, I decided to start my own blog.”
Sidebuy: If you can name one of the biggest challenges of being an influencer what would it be?
Annabelle: “Finding good photographers to work with and maintaining my feed! I’m always looking for someone to help me create quality content. During the school year, it’s so hard to balance everything and as such, I produce less content and my feed starts looking less cohesive.”
Sidebuy: If you can name one of the biggest rewards of being an influencer what would it be?
Annabelle: “Reading people’s comments on some of my blog posts and Instagram posts! I love some of the personal responses I get. I’ve formed some amazing connections by becoming an influencer and it’s truly amazing.”
Sidebuy: If you can share one tip to those who are starting out as influencers, what would it be?
Annabelle: “Quality over quantity! Don’t just take any deals you get and don’t push yourself to post all the time. Focus on creating a portfolio of amazing work with brands you love. And don’t forget to create some quality content just for fun!”
Sidebuy: What is the one tool that you can’t live without as an influencer?
Annabelle: “Planoly. It allows me to schedule my posts and add the captions and hashtags. Makes life sooo much easier when I’m busy.”
Sidebuy: Can you describe one of the best collaborations you had with a brand? How did it look like?
Annabelle: “I collaborated with Lively over the summer, an amazing lingerie brand made by women for women. Their values align with mine and their bras and bralettes are AMAZING! Those photos and that blog post are my favourites to date.”
Sidebuy: Where do you think is the future of influencer marketing is going for both influencers and for brands?
Annabelle: “I think companies who really know what they’re doing will begin to form more personal relationships with their favourite influencers, as Lively has done with me and the other girls they’ve worked with. These relationships will be more authentic and will allow influencers to create amazing content over and over with brands they truly love.”
